Marne Adler presents images of great beauty and power. Her highly textured, sculptural work is full of depth and nuance. When describing her work, one reviewer coined the term "Magical Realism" and she has since been associated with this genre. 

Marne has always been intrigued by mankind`s search for meaning; even as an adolescent she studied the religions and philosophies of the world. Born in New York City, she began her career as an art teacher. But soon Marne became truly committed to this exploration and spent the next few years traveling throughout the world, learning cultural myths, scriptural allegories, mystic rituals and meditation. 

She draws on these experiences when creating her work. Influenced by Master Symbolists such as Redon and Moreau, her images are infused with a visual language of the soul. 

For over thirty years, her work has been exhibited in Japan, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Belgium and the United States and is included in important private, corporate, museum and academic collections. " ...

While my student was here working in my studio, I was working right along side her.  This is one of the pieces I created while she was here.



I was showing her how to create and combine such elements as embossed aluminum foil, hand made gold textured paper, mica
flakes, and copper tacks.  The painting is floated on a 9x9 black wood frame and arrives ready to hang.

“Because,” I said, “everything that exists is born for no reason, carries on living through weakness, and dies by accident.”
“Jesus,” S. said. “Aren’t you ever off the clock?”
Thursday, 16 July, 1959: 7:45 P.M.
When S. returned this afternoon I asked her where she had been, and she said she had been in the street.
“Perhaps,” I said, “that explains why you look ‘rue’-ful.”
Her blank stare only reinforced for me the futility of existence.

The Killers have released a tour video for their single “Miss Atomic Bomb”. The Stuart Price produced song is the second single to be lifted from The Killers latest studio album, Battle Born, which is out now on iTunes. The album debuted at No. 3 on the US on the Billboard 200, selling over 113,000 copies in its opening week and maintaining a top 10 position in the second week. The tour clip for “Miss Atomic Bomb” was shot in the United Kingdom by Grammy Nominated videomaker Giorgio Testi. Check it out below.
